ALERT: Wed, August 20, 2008; 8:22 PM ET Next Maine Hamfest! Windsor Hamfest Saturday, Sept. 6, Windsor Fairgrounds Rte. 32 WELCOME TO YORK COUNTY ARES!!!!
York County now has an active and growing ARES group, thanks to Barry KB1VX, and I'm sure a few others. All counties in District one now have active ARES groups. A Well-deserved Thank You!
I wish to thank all the hams that provided communications for the MS-150 Aug. 2 & 3, 2008. Special thanks to Oxford County Ares/Cert for use of their Communications trailer. The trailer and equipment made the two days a lot easier. Also thanks to Gary, N1ZNJ, for bringing the trailer and serving as net control. Job well done by all who helped. Thanks to Brian, K1AAM, for the use of his repeater. Maine Hospice Event (formerly the Dan Michaud Memorial Ride)
This annual bike trek, voted "2000 Best Country Tour" Award from The League of American Bicyclists, in memory of Dan Michaud, one of the founders of The Merrymeeting Amateur Radio Assoc., is on Saturday, August 23. This happens to be the same weekend as the Boxboro Convention and Hamfest. As a number of MARA members will be attending the convention, we are in need of volunteers to assist with communications. 2008 Loon Echo Hike and Bike Trek
We are looking for 25 or so operators for communications for the, Saturday, September 20th 2008 Loon Echo Hike and Bike trek. All levels of experience are invited to participate. We are especially in need of those operators who have APRS equipment for tracking purposes. There are rest stops, SAG vehicles, intersections, and EMS positions to be manned. For those who have participated in the past, the fun and excitement continues. For the first timers, come and join in the fun and practice your emergency communications skills.
