ARRL Amateur Radio Emergency Communications Course (ARECC)

Mentor, Field Instructor and Field Examiner Requirements

Field Instructors (CI)

  1. Must be 18 years of age with Technician or higher license.
  2. Have current Field Instructor (CI) application on file.
  3. Successful completion of level of ARRL ARECC you will teach.
  4. Must hold current ARRL membership.

Mentors (CM)

  1. Must meet all requirements for Field Instructor (CI) plus the following.
  2. Successfully complete the online ARECC Level 3 course or the technical courses you wish to mentor.
  3. Complete Mentor training.
  4. Possess sufficient computer skills and Internet savvy to interact with online course students and other mentors.
  5. Maintain adequate computer equipment.

If you would like to apply to become a Mentor, please send an email to cce@arrl.org. We will send you our Mentor Familiarization Package and some additional instructions.

Field Examiner (CE)

  1. General or above amateur radio license.
  2. Must be currently accredited as an ARRL Volunteer Examiner (VE).
  3. Have current Field Examiner (CE) application on file.
  4. Know and be willing to follow the rules for administering ARECC Field Exams.
