REPORT OF THE PRESIDENT'S ROUNDTABLE
TO THE ARRL PRESIDENT

19 January 2001

Members of the Roundtable:

Robert Ferraro, W6RJ
Fred Hopengarten, K1VR
Martin Jue, K5FLU
Dr. Thomas McClain, N3HPR
Richard Thomasson, WB4GQA
Peter Von Hagen, WA6HXM

ARRL Representation:

Jim Haynie, W5JBP - ARRL President
Bernie Fuller, N3EFN - Atlantic Division Director/Board Liaison
Dave Sumner, K1ZZ - ARRL Executive VP
Barry Shelley, N1VXY - ARRL CFO

General.

Since its inception, the President's Roundtable has met three times. It has not met since the July 2000 Board of Directors' meeting.

The primary missions of the Roundtable are to

  1. advise the ARRL president of the availability of significant endowment funds, and
  2. provide entrée to the inner circles of the constituencies they represent for the purpose of maintaining the ARRL as the preeminent voice of Amateur Radio.

Members of the Roundtable are appointed for a period of two years, and meet at the call of the ARRL President.

Membership of the Roundtable is not limited and may include as many as 10 members or as few as 3 members. Membership will vary based on the degree of effort envisioned to support specific projects.

Significant Issues.

  1. The two-year appointments of the members indicated above have been vacated effective 18 December 2000.
  2. Future representation on the Roundtable will be comprised mainly of business/funding advisors selected by the ARRL President.
  3. The Roundtable will be tasked to respond the specific projects and programs as determined by the ARRL President.
  4. The Roundtable will come together as a group only at the call of the ARRL President as the need arises. These meetings will include only those members who have been specifically tasked by the President.
  5. As has been previously established, meetings between the ARRL President and potential donors will be scheduled to:

Conclusion.

Future meetings and the group composition will be at the direction of the ARRL President.

Respectfully submitted.

BERNARD E. FULLER, N3EFN
Director, Atlantic Division
ARRL Board Liaison to the President's Roundtable
